I guess the deserts in Tucson was the first time I have seen a Sagauro cactus! I am so intrigued by the Joshua Trees of California for the human like/character shapes-and the same feeling exists-they are big with “arms” up and out in different directions...strange looking-I am fascinated with the fact that people take the time to build wooden props to keep them up.....are they too top heavy? Shallow roots? Again it reminded me of humans and taking care of the elderly-here is your crutch so you don’t fall....

I had a day off in Tucson and stayed with a friend there-but I really didn’t feel like doing much, which makes me feel guilty as I just briefly am in a new place at one time and feel I should do everything....but I mostly rest and collect my thoughts....I go to the Kadampa meditation center and watch the thoughts I have collected which is a maddening process...

In the morning I go check out 4th Ave.-which is the city’s cultural hotspot and it is really dead-but find a cool coffee shop and then visit the historic Hotel Congress before driving 2 1/2 hours to Cave Creek, AZ on the outskirts of Phoenix where I perform outside in the evening at this really cool “coffee shop” that is really a bar-my stage backdrop is a Sagauro Cactus and I perform outside in the heat where I am drenched in sweat. Periscope features my live broadcast and I get 13,000 people who watch...me sweat. Sing and sweat. One person comments about how artists should get real jobs and shouldn’t expect money from performing....I definitely earned every cent of that paycheck!!

The next morning I discover that close by is the “Carefree Highway”-could it be the same one from one of my all time favorite singer songwriters Gordon Lightfoot!? I google it and it is! I drive to the town of Carefree singing the song and linger in the moment...I really am carefree....at least for a time....
