We knew John Yao was photographing Andrew’s wedding, so we used the studio credit that we held on for five years and scheduled the family shoot the day after. John Y. took us to his secret spot and we had tons of fun. Can’t wait to see the photos. I left my phone in the car so I have no photos.
We weren’t sure what to expect with the name at first but drove over for the good reviews on yelp. I asked what “Dirty French Made” was and the staff told me she’d get me a sample. Turned out she brought me a tasting!
I got 626 cold brew for John and Dirty Nurple (cold brew with ube foam + boba). It was yummy.
We went to a nearby French restaurant for lunch based on good yelp reviews. The food was decent. Dorothy wanted to play with everything and only wanted to eat the bread. She did eat some salad too. It was ok for me as we fed her some homemade chicken at the hotel. We hurried with our dishes.
I had seen the Huntington library on the internet a lot and wanted to visit. We finally made it at around 3pm. It was a hot day for us Bay Area folks, but it was nice to escape into the exhibits with AC in between. The gardens are all very lovely. Dorothy loved the children’s garden.
We had Tibetan food for dinner. It was nice to see Tom and Cecile. The last time we met up was a couple of years ago. It was their first time meeting Dorothy. It was very sweet to see Tom’s interaction with her. Dorothy enjoyed playing with Uncle Tom, eating her tofu salad and stealing Uncle Tom’s rice. She ate just a little bit of the baby back ribs I brought from home and didn’t want the homemade veggies (I guess thawed frozen veggies didn’t taste good and she preferred the freshly served stuff - who wouldn’t?)
As usual, enjoyed the convo with Cecile. She’s funny and it seems that we can never run out of things to talk about. The momo dumplings and phing noodles were pretty decent.
