Early mornings time with the dog. Nothing like a little exercise and bonding time with Khalisi.
I made plans to see a good friend of mine for brunch. My friend Charles suggested that we try out this bakery/ restaurant. It was such a nice place to eat! Lots of choices and quality food and coffee.
A couple of weeks before I came to LA, I looked up cool free things to do. One of the things I found out about was the observation deck at City Hall. I had never been inside City Hall and this totally intrigued me.
My friend and I went downtown in hopes of getting in to The Broad Museum. However the lines proved to be against that idea. So I suggested the Observation Deck as an alternative. It was a cool experience and we got to see the Art Deco building up close and personal. I was glad I finally got to do it.
Charles and I kept our plans pretty fluid so when we passed this coffee shop, I had to ask to stop and see if the Yelp hype was worth it. The place was tiny bit it was pretty good. Total hipster coffee shop with lots of cool chalk art.
I love public art works because it takes art out of a museum and puts it on the street got everyone to enjoy. I may not love museums but I do love art.
Since coming to Grand Central Market, I had been craving a pastrami sandwich. I'm so glad Charles got hungry because I was able to share the sandwich with him and fulfill my craving. The sandwich was yummy and perfect.
Men are so lucky to have strong metabolisms. Charles wanted to give me a taste of all the things he loves in LA. I could not help but follow his lead and pay for it later, plus it's ice cream. I can't say no to homemade, uniquely flavored ice cream! It was so awesome, it made me wish we had this place in Austin. We did an ice cream flight where we shared vanilla, freckled woodblock chocolate, salted malted, chocolate cookie dough, and sea salt and caramel ribbons.
Since Charles is my LA foodie expert, I left him to do the dinner plans. Cleo was an excellent choice. It was a unique place where we were able to taste a lot of Amazon foods in small amounts. The bread dip was my favorite and was uber garlicky. I have to come back here again!
Talk about ambiance! This hotel looks pretty typical for Hollywood, but on the inside it shows the gorgeous Hollywood glamour of the 20s.
We had drinks at one of the three bars I the hotel where the bartender made us special drinks to suit our likes. We had a citrusy like drink with ginger bits to help with digestion. I requested tequila while Charlie had his with gin. I was excited to come here because I have always heard so much about it. So cool! So pretty.
