Drove up to Vancouver late yesterday afternoon and spent the evening drinking magical cocktails (my personal favorite, a sour with toasted black sesame infused scotch from Juniper) and eating a borderline irresponsible amount of Chinese food from the bomb Bao bei. Wandered back to our Airbnb in a light rain picking out dream houses.
Stayed in a lovely Victorian home and spent the morning sipping excellent 49th parallel espresso and chatting with my host about his travels through china. We munched on the yogurt bar (gotta love Airbnb super hosts) to tide us over so we could wait in the queue for Jam cafe. We're told a 45 minute wait is in order, but it's chilly and sunny and fresh outside, the mountains are out and capped in snow and I've got nowhere in particular to be.
Breakfast was enough for a party of four, but great food and an adorable (and very Canadian) cafe. After we walked through the conservatory and around the winter bare park before browsing and coffee-ing in the mount pleasant neighborhood. Quick pit stop for ketchup chips and illegal candy, and then homeward. Short little trip, but perfect for shaking out the winter blues!
