What an amazing palace. More ornate than any palace I have ever seen. It exceeded my expectations. What a shame they don't let you take pictures of all rooms . The crown room and the throne room were especially ornate with amazing artifacts to look at.
I did not realize it, but my hotel was right around the corner from where Cervantes lived and died. It makes sense now since the street is called Calle de Cervantes.
"Here lived and died Miguel de Cervantes..."
Like Central Park in Nueva York, it's amazing how tranquil and peaceful it is here even though it is right in the middle of the city. What a perfect break from the hustle and bustle of Madrid traffic and noise.
The oldest tree in Madrid? A Mexican conifer. Planted in 1633.
